The parliament of Catalonia vote to succeed from Spain

The members of parliament in Spain has voted to succeed from Spain. The Opposition parties walked out of the meeting and boycotted the vote, but supporters only need 68 votes for a majority.

In Madrid, the central government has tried to suspend the Catalan parliament.

70 votes for independence, 10 votes against, 2 abstentions.

The parliament has broken into song after the votes have been read. Spain’s IBEX was down 1.3% before the vote and fell to a session low, down 3% after the vote.

The resolution sets in motion the creation of a new republic. He said: «we are the Catalan Republic, as an independent and sovereign country, under the rule of law,» he said. He asked all countries to recognize the Republic.

What happens next is clear, but Rajoy, has tweeted the status for restoring the rule of law of Catalonia.
